Hint: You don’t.
If you want to know why, Timothy R. Furnish PhD is the good doctor who can prescribe the crazy reasoning.
Here is a great article from Joel Richardson that elaborates on some of the lesser mentioned elements of the gospel in the West today. It is a very encouraging read that will open your eyes to the great hope for Israel in their messiah Jesus:
If you ask most Christians why Jesus died on the cross, they will most often quote John 3:16, affirming that, “God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” The idea is that the “good news” of the Bible is summarized in that Jesus died on the cross so that anyone who believes in Him can go to heaven after they die.
Of course, when Christians say these kind of things, they are not wrong. This is certainly part of the good news. But the gospel is far more than just John 3:16and being saved from hell. The gospel, as it was proclaimed by Jesus and the Apostles, is an extension of the good news that was proclaimed throughout the Old Testament. So what else beyond merely going to heaven after we die is entailed when we speak of God’s good news for mankind?
The simple answer to this question is found in the phrase, “the restoration of all things.” Shortly after Pentecost, when Peter preached God’s good news to the crowds, he specifically spoke of the “the period of restoration of all things about which God spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets from ancient time” (Acts 3:21). What is this period, what were the prophets speaking of, and what exactly will be restored?
The period being spoken of is the age of the Messiah, after Jesus returns and establishes His kingdom. As to what will be restored, Jesus will not only restore the earth, but also the Kingdom of Israel. Within the grand unfolding plan of God are His many promises not only to restore Eden—a glorious garden-paradise, but also to restore the Jewish Kingdom to a glory far greater than during the days of King David or Solomon.
Let’s consider just a few of the passages that speak of these days. In the prophecy of Isaiah, we are told that during the messianic age, in partnership with Jesus, the righteous will actually renovate the earth: “Then they will rebuild the ancient ruins, they will raise up the former devastations; and they will repair the ruined cities, the desolations of many generations” (Isaiah 61:4). Elsewhere, the prophet Amos speaks of the days, “When the plowman will overtake the reaper and the treader of grapes him who sows seed; when the mountains will drip sweet wine.” Under the rule of Jesus, God’s people will, “plant vineyards and drink their wine, and make gardens and eat their fruit” (Amos 9:9-15). The prophet Zechariah says that “‘In that day,’ declares the LORD of hosts, ‘every one of you will invite his neighbor to sit under his vine and under his fig tree’” (Zechariah 3:10).
In speaking of those days, the prophet Ezekiel describes, a river that will run southward, out of Jerusalem, turning the Dead Sea into a fresh water lake, teeming with life:
It will come about that every living creature which swarms in every place where the river goes, will live. And there will be very many fish, for these waters go there and the others become fresh; so everything will live where the river goes. And it will come about that fishermen will stand beside it; from Engedi to Eneglaim there will be a place for the spreading of nets. Their fish will be according to their kinds, like the fish of the Great Sea, very many. (Ezekiel 47:9-10)
When is the last time that any Christian you know declared the good news that in the age to come, after we die, we will be able to fish? I don’t know about you, but for me, this is truly good news!
The Scriptures also affirm that after Jesus returns, He will set in place a new global leadership structure. From God’s perspective, the primary purpose of every position of leadership is to serve others. Yet today, I think it is fair to say that many, if not most politicians, seek and maintain positions of authority not primarily for the purpose of truly serving others, but in order to secure greater wealth, power, and control. This is a problem that is common throughout the world. How will Jesus respond to this when He returns? Psalm 110 tells us that Jesus will literally kill unrighteous rulers and politicians throughout the earth: “The Lord is at Your right hand; He will shatter kings in the day of His wrath. He will judge among the nations, He will fill them with corpses, He will shatter the chief men over a broad country” (Psalm 110:5).
Not only will Jesus’ return be accompanied by his execution of a host of wicked, self-serving politicians and dictators throughout the earth, but He will also replace them with those who have proven themselves to be faithful and humble leaders: “Well done, my good servant! Because you have been trustworthy in a very small matter, take charge of ten cities,” He will declare (Luke 19:17). When I think of how many throughout the earth groan under the weight of oppressive government, I rejoice at this profoundly good news. Genuinely humble servant leaders will assist Jesus in governing the new world. Hallelujah!
Yet as wonderful and glorious as these descriptions of a restored earth are, they are only part of the picture. Beyond a restored and glorified garden paradise, the Scriptures also speak of a glorified, restored Kingdom of Israel. If we neglect to proclaim either of these two dimensions of the coming messianic age, we are simply not proclaiming the complete gospel message that was declared by God’s “holy prophets from ancient time.”
After Jesus rose from the dead, His disciples asked Him about the time that He would restore the glory of the Jewish kingdom, saying, “Lord, is it at this time You are restoring the kingdom to Israel?” (Acts 1:6-7). In no way did Jesus rebuke his disciples for their question. Instead, He assured them that at the proper time, according to the time set by the Father, He will return and restore the Kingdom of Israel. The Scriptures are brimming with references that testify to this reality. At the every onset of the Gospel of Luke, the angel Gabriel announced to Mary that the son she would bear would forever reign on the restored throne of David:
“And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name Him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David; and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and His kingdom will have no end.” (Luke 1:31-33 emphasis mine)
The throne of David, we must understand is not a vague reference to the rule of Jesus. This is the restored Jewish royal monarchy.
Later, as Jesus spoke to His disciples, He told them of the time after He returns when they would assist him in judging the twelve tribes of Israel:
“Truly I say to you, that you who have followed Me, in the regeneration when the Son of Man will sit on His glorious throne, you also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel” (Matthew 19:28-29).
The restoration of all twelve tribes in the age to come shows that indeed we are looking forward to a fully restored Kingdom of Israel. Though few Christians discuss this aspect of the Bible, the Scriptures in both the Old and New testaments are brimming with descriptions of the coming kingdom of God.
When we take a real hard look at the way that the Christian Church has related to the Jewish community throughout most of Church history, it is no surprise that a failure to recognize this critical aspect of the good news—namely the coming restoration of the Kingdom of Israel—often accompanied the horrific mistreatment of the Jewish people by Christians. In my most recent book, When a Jew Rules the World, I carefully lay out the case for why the Christian Church must reclaim the fullness of the gospel as it was proclaimed by Jesus and the apostles. In doing so, we will accomplish much. First, we will proclaim a message that most Jews—those who are far more Old Testament literate than many Christians—will relate to, understand, and receive far more naturally. Second, we will be much better equipped to avoid the great errors and sins of our forefathers with the long history of Christian persecution of the Jewish people. And finally, we will prepare our hearts to receive Jesus at His return with hearts full of joy and understanding as we all together exclaim with fullness of joy: “Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord! Blessed is the king of Israel!” (John 12:13)
The restoration of all things is an appropriate topic given that God’s rehearsal for this time in history is quickly approaching in the Sukkot feast season especially one so significant as this year’s season seems to be.
It’s a great opportunity for the church to connect with God’s history with Israel and to set our hearts and minds on what is to come.
I knew that we were getting close to the end of the age even before I committed myself to Jesus. Indeed, the sheer volume of signs of trouble were already evident to me as a staunch atheist but it was the biblical scriptures that gave me the context to what I was observing in the earth.
Where I anticipated doom and the end of humanity, God revealed the great and blessed hope!
Thankfully, God led me to himself through these signs among other means.
Ceratinly, there is no denying that we live in a unique generation among all the generations of history. In spite of this, many would comfort themselves by wishing away the reality that in the scheme of things, it’s not too long now until Jesus returns to rule as the rightful king of the nations.
The following article by Dr. David R. Reagan takes a sound look at the telling signs of the times and I encourage you to consider these prayerfully:
50 Reasons Why we are living in the end times
The Bible says we cannot know the time of the Lord’s return (Matthew 25:13). But the Scriptures make it equally clear that we can know the season of the Lord’s return (1 Thessalonians 5:2-6):
“You yourselves know full well that the day of the Lord will come just like a thief in the night… But you brethren, are not in darkness, that the day should overtake you like a thief; for you are all sons of light and sons of day. We are not of night or darkness; so then let us not sleep as others do, but let us be alert and sober.”
This passage asserts that Jesus is coming like “a thief in the night.” But then it proceeds to make it clear that this will be true only for the pagan world and not for believers. His return should be no surprise to those who know Him and His Word, for they have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit to give them understanding of the nature of the times.
Furthermore, the Scriptures give us signs to watch for — signs that will signal that Jesus is ready to return. The writer of the Hebrew letter referred to these signs when he proclaimed that believers should encourage one another when they see the day of judgment drawing near (Hebrews 10:25-27). Jesus also referred to the end time signs in His Olivet Discourse, given during the last week of His life (Matthew 24 and Luke 21). Speaking of a whole series of signs which He had given to His disciples, He said, “When you see all these things, recognize that He [the Son of Man — that is, Jesus] is near, right at the door” (Matthew 24:33).
A Personal Experience
Every time I think of “Signs of the Times,” I am reminded of a great man of God named Elbert Peak. I had the privilege of participating with him in a Bible prophecy conference held in Orlando, Florida in the early 1990’s. Mr. Peak was about 80 years old at the time.
He had been assigned the topic, “The Signs of the Times.” He began his presentation by observing, “Sixty years ago when I first started preaching, you had to scratch around like a chicken to find one sign of the Lord’s soon return.”
He paused for a moment, and then added, “But today there are so many signs I’m no longer looking for them. Instead, I’m listening for a sound — the sound of a trumpet!”
The First Sign
One hundred years ago in 1907 there was not one single, tangible, measurable sign that indicated we were living in the season of the Lord’s return. The first to appear was the Balfour Declaration which was issued by the British government on November 2, 1917.
This Declaration was prompted by the fact that during World War I the Turks sided with the Germans. Thus, when Germany lost the war, so did the Turks, and the victorious Allies decided to divide up both the German and Turkish empires.
The Turkish territories, called the Ottoman Empire, contained the ancient homeland of the Jewish people — an area the Romans had named Palestine after the last Jewish revolt in 132-135 AD.
In 1917 Palestine included all of modern day Israel and Jordan. In the scheme the Allies concocted for dividing up the German and Turkish territories, Britain was allotted Palestine, and this is what prompted the Balfour Declaration. In that document, Lord Balfour, the British Foreign Secretary, declared that it was the intention of the British government to establish in Palestine “a national home for the Jewish people.”
The leading Evangelical in England at the time was F. B. Meyer. He immediately recognized the prophetic significance of the Declaration, for he was well aware that the Scriptures prophesy that the Jewish people will be regathered to their homeland in unbelief right before the return of the Messiah (Isaiah 11:11-12).
Meyer sent out a letter to the Evangelical leaders of England asking them to gather in London in December to discuss the prophetic implications of the Balfour Declaration. In that letter, he stated, “The signs of the times point toward the close of the time of the Gentiles… and the return of Jesus can be expected any moment.”
Before Meyer’s meeting could be convened, another momentous event occurred. On December 11, 1917 General Edmund Allenby liberated the city of Jerusalem from 400 years of Turkish rule.
There is no doubt that these events in 1917 marked the beginning of the end times because they led to the worldwide regathering of the Jewish people to their homeland and the reestablishment of their state.
Since the time of the Balfour Declaration, we have witnessed throughout the 20th Century the appearance of sign after sign pointing to the Lord’s soon return. There are so many of these signs today, in fact, that one would have to be either biblically illiterate or spiritually blind not to realize that we are living on borrowed time.
I have personally been searching the Bible for years in an effort to identify all the signs, and it has not been an easy task to get a hold on them. That’s because there are so many of them, both in the Old and New Testaments.
I have found that the best way to deal with them is to put them in categories, and in doing that, I have come up with six categories of end time signs.
1) The Signs of Nature
“…and there will be great earthquakes, and in various places plagues and famines; and there will be terrors and great signs from heaven.” (Luke 21:11)
This category of signs has always been the least respected, even among believers. The mere mention of it usually evokes a sneer accompanied by the words, “Come on, what else is new? There have always been earthquakes and tornadoes and hurricanes.” But those who have this attitude forget that Jesus said the signs would be like “birth pangs” (Matthew 24:8). That means they will increase in frequency and intensity the closer we get to the Lord’s return. In other words, there will be more frequent natural disasters and more intense ones.
And that is exactly what has been happening. For example, between October of 1991 and November of 2004 — a period of 13 years — the United States experienced:
9 of the 10 largest insurance natural disasters in history.
9 of the 10 greatest disasters as ranked by FEMA relief costs.
5 of its costliest hurricanes in history.
3 of its 4 largest tornado swarms in history.
And keep in mind that these statistics were complied before the Hurricane Katrina disaster in August of 2005!
2) The Signs of Society
“Realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God…” (2 Timothy 3:1-4)
This passage sounds like a typical evening newscast today! Notice the three things it says people will love in the end times: self, money, and pleasure.
The love of self is Humanism — the belief that Man can accomplish anything on his own. The love of money is Materialism. When Humanism is your religion, your god will always be money. The love of pleasure is the third love that is mentioned. This is Hedonism, the lifestyle that is always produced by Humanism and Materialism.
But God cannot be mocked (Galatians 6:7). He therefore sees to it that when people chose Humanism, Materialism, and Hedonism, the payoff is always Nihilism — which is a fancy philosophical word for despair.
Need I emphasize that our world is wallowing in despair today? We live in a society plagued by abortion, homosexuality, domestic violence, child molestation, blasphemy, pornography, alcoholism, drug abuse and gambling.
Like the days of the Judges in the Old Testament, people are doing what is right in their own eyes, and the result is that people are calling evil good and good evil (Isaiah 5:20).
3) The Spiritual Signs
There are more signs in this category than any other. Many are evil in nature, but there are also some very positive ones. Concerning the negative signs, a typical passage is the following one found in 2 Timothy 4:3-4:
“The time will come when they [professing Christians] will not endure sound doctrine, but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires; and will turn away their ears from the truth, and will turn aside to myths.”
Some of the negative spiritual signs that are specifically prophesied include the following: false christs, cultic groups, heresies, apostasy, skepticism, deception, occultism, and persecution.
The one that Jesus mentioned most frequently was false christs and their cultic groups (Matthew 24:5, 11, 24). And in fulfillment of these prophecies, we have experienced an explosion of cults since 1850.
But, praise God, we are told that there will be some very positive spiritual signs in the end times. The most important one that is prophesied in many places is a great outpouring of the Holy Spirit (Joel 2:28-29).
This outpouring began at the dawn of the 20th Century, and proved to be one of the greatest spiritual surprises — and blessings — of the century. You see, when that century began, the prevailing viewpoint among both Catholics and Protestants regarding the Holy Spirit was Cessationism. This view held that the gifts of the Spirit ceased when the last Apostle died. In effect, it was a belief that the Holy Spirit had retired in the First Century.
The 20th Century had hardly gotten started when a Holy Spirit revival broke out at a small Bible college in Topeka, Kansas in 1901. Three years later, a similar Holy Spirit revival swept Wales and began to spread worldwide. Then, in 1906, the Spirit fell with great power on a humble Black preacher in Los Angeles named William J. Seymour. The Azuza Street Revival, as it came to be called, continued for four years and gave birth to the Pentecostal Movement.
The Bible prophesies two great outpourings of the Spirit and symbolically pictures them as the “early and latter rains” (Joel 2:23), based on the two rainy seasons of Israel. The early rain occurred at Pentecost in the First Century when the Church was established. The latter rain was prophesied to occur after the Jewish people had been re-established in their homeland (Joel 2:18-26).
The latter rain began with the Pentecostal Movement, just as God began to regather the Jews to their homeland under the visionary leadership of Theodore Herzl. But the rain did not become a downpour until after the re-establishment of the state of Israel in May of 1948, just as prophesied by Joel.
First came the anointing of Billy Graham’s ministry in 1949, followed by the Charismatic Movement of the 1960’s. Today, most of Christianity, whether Pentecostal, Charismatic, or Traditional, fully recognizes that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is alive and well in Spirit-led worship, the continuing validity of spiritual gifts, the reality of spiritual warfare, and the importance of a Spirit-filled life in winning that warfare.
In addition to the rediscovery of the Holy Spirit, there are other positive spiritual prophecies being fulfilled today — like the preaching of the Gospel worldwide (Matthew 24:14), the revival of Davidic praise worship (Amos 9:11) and the emergence of Messianic Judaism (Romans 9:27).
Another remarkable positive sign is the understanding of Bible prophecy. You see, the Hebrew prophets often did not understand the end time prophecies that the Lord gave to them. A good example can be found in Daniel 12:8-9 where the prophet complains to the Lord that he does not understand the prophecies that have been entrusted to him. The Lord’s response was, “Don’t worry about it. Just write the prophecies. They have been sealed up until the end times.”
In other words, the Bible teaches that many of the end time prophecies will not be understood until the time comes for them to be fulfilled. And that is exactly what has been happening in the past 100 years. Historical developments and scientific inventions are now making it possible for us to understand end time prophecies that have never been understood before.
Take Israel for example. All of end time prophecy revolves around the nation of Israel. But how could those prophecies be understood as long as Israel did not exist and there was no prospect that the nation would ever exist again?
This is the reason that Hal Lindsey’s book, The Late Great Planet Earth, became such a phenomenal bestseller in the 1970’s. For the first time it explained the events prophesied in the book of Revelation in natural terms that people could easily understand.
4) The Signs of World Politics
“You will be hearing of wars and rumors of wars… for nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom…” (Matthew 24:6-7)
I taught international politics for 20 years before I entered the ministry full time, so this is an area that is particularly fascinating to me.
The Bible prophesies a very specific end time configuration of world politics. Israel is pictured as being re-established (Ezekiel 37:21-22) and surrounded by hostile Arab neighbors intent on its destruction (Ezekiel 35:1 – 36:7). This, of course has been the situation in the Middle East since the Israeli Declaration of Independence in May of 1948.
Daniel prophesied that the Roman Empire would be revived (Daniel 2:36-41), something many men — like Charlemagne, Napoleon, and Hitler — tried to do through force. But the prophecy had to await God’s timing for its fulfillment, and that came after World War II, with the formation of the European Common Market that has since morphed into the superpower called the European Union.
The Bible pictures a great power located in the land of Magog in the “remote parts of the north.” This nation will menace Israel in the end times and will ultimately lead an invasion of Israel together with specified allies, all of which are modern day Muslim states (Ezekiel 38:1 – 39:16). Russia with all its Muslim republics and its Muslim allies fits this description precisely.
All the nations of the world are prophesied to come together against Israel in the end times over the issue of the control of Jerusalem (Zech. 12:2-3) — a prophecy being fulfilled today.
The magnitude of warfare in the 20th Century is another fulfillment of end time prophecy related to world politics. The 20th Century was one of unparalleled war. Like birth pangs, the frequency and intensity of war increased exponentially. It is now estimated that more people died in wars during the 20th Century than in all the previous wars throughout all of recorded human history.
5) The Signs of Technology
“Men will faint from fear over the expectation of the things which are coming upon the world; for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.” (Luke 21:26)
The development of nuclear weapons seems to be foreshadowed by this prophecy in Luke 21 that speaks of people “fainting from fear” due to the “powers of the heavens being shaken.” The incredible carnage of the Seal and Trumpet Judgments portrayed in chapters 6 and 8 in the book of Revelation indicates that the Antichrist will conquer the world through the use of nuclear weapons. We are told that one-third of the earth will be burned and that one-half of humanity will be killed. Further evidence that this is a nuclear holocaust is found in Revelation 16 where we are told that at the end of the Tribulation the survivors will be covered with sores that will not heal (Revelation 16:11).
As I pointed out earlier, there are many end time prophecies that simply cannot be understood apart from modern technological developments. Consider the prophecy in Revelation 11 about the two witnesses who will call the world to repentance during the first half of the Tribulation. When they are killed by the Antichrist, we are told that their bodies will lie in the streets of Jerusalem for three and a half days, and the whole world will look upon them (Revelation 11:9). How could anyone understand such a prophecy before the development of satellite television in the 1960’s?
Likewise, how could the Antichrist control all buying and selling worldwide (Revelation 13) without the aid of computer technology? How could the False Prophet create the illusion of giving life to a statue (Revelation 13) without the technology of holograms, virtual reality, and robotics? How could an army of 200 million come out of the Far East (Revelation 9) before the population explosion that was produced by modern medical technology? How could the Gospel be proclaimed to all the world (Matthew 24) before the invention of motion pictures, radio, television, and the Internet? The list goes on and on.
6) The Signs of Israel
“And it shall come about in that day that I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples; all who lift it will be severely injured. And all the nations of the earth will be gathered against it.” (Zechariah 12:3)
The signs that relate to Israel are the most important of all because the Jews are God’s prophetic time clock. What I mean by this is that the Scriptures will often tie a prophesied future event with something that will happen to the Jews. We are told to watch the Jews, and when the prophesied event concerning them occurs, we can be sure that the other prophesied event will also occur.
An example can be found in Luke 21:24 where Jesus prophesied that the Jews would be dispersed from Jerusalem and be led captive among the nations. But then He added that one day they would return to re-occupy Jerusalem, and when this happens, the end time events will occur that will lead to His return.
There are many prophecies concerning the Jews in the end times, many of which began to be fulfilled in the 20th Century, but there are four key ones. The first is their worldwide regathering in unbelief (Isaiah 11:11-12). In 1900 there were only 40,000 Jews in Palestine. By the end of World War II that number had risen to 800,000. Today, there are more than 5.7 million who have come from all over the world. Very soon there will be as many Jews in Israel as died in the Holocaust. The prophet Jeremiah says twice that when history is completed, the Jewish people will look back and conclude that their worldwide regathering was a greater miracle than their deliverance from Egyptian captivity (Jeremiah 16:14-15 and 23:7-8). We are truly living in momentous times!
The second key prophecy concerning the Jews is a natural consequence of their regathering. It is the re-establishment of their state which occurred on May 14, 1948 (Isaiah 66:7-8). The third key prophecy is the re-occupation of Jerusalem which occurred on June 7, 1967 during the miraculous Six Day War (Zechariah 8:4-8).
The fourth key prophecy is the one whose fulfillment we are witnessing today — the re-focusing of world politics upon the nation of Israel (Zechariah 12:2-3). All the nations of the world, including the United States, are coming against Israel over the issue of the control of the nation’s capital — the city of Jerusalem. The Vatican wants the city put under its control. The United Nations wants it to be internationalized. The European Union is demanding it be divided between the Arabs and the Jews. The Arabs want all of it.
And so you have it — six different categories of signs, each category containing many prophecies concerning the end times, all of which are being fulfilled before our very eyes. Let me conclude by specifically listing 50 of those prophecies.

49) The revival of Davidic praise worship.
50) The understanding of Bible prophecy.
This list could be greatly expanded, but the 50 examples above should be sufficient to show that we are living in the season of the Lord’s return.
The Bible clearly teaches that God never pours out His wrath without warning for He is a just and loving God who does not wish that any should perish (2 Peter 3:9). That’s why He has provided so many signs to alert us to the fact that we are living on the threshold of the Tribulation.
The bottom line message of the signs is that we are living on borrowed time. And the crucial question for every human being is “Are you ready?” Are you ready for the return of Jesus? Will He come as your Blessed Hope or your Holy Terror?
It will be one or the other, for God is determined to deal with sin, and He does so with either grace or wrath (John 3:36). If you have put your faith in Jesus as your Lord and Savior, then you are under God’s grace. Your sins have been forgiven and forgotten, and you can look forward with confidence to that glorious day when Jesus will appear in the heavens.
But if you have never received Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you are under the wrath of God, and you have nothing to look forward to except the terror of His wrath.
The choice is yours. I personally cannot understand why anyone would turn their back on God’s free gift of grace through faith in His Son. I have placed my faith in Jesus, and I therefore am able to look forward to His soon return with great anticipation and expectation. All that is within me cries out, “Maranatha! Come quickly Lord Jesus” (1 Corinthians 16:22).
Turkey ruled the Middle East for have a Millenia and that’s a long time. They have taken a back seat for a century but now Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Tukeys President, is beginning to display the telling signs of his ambition.
My personal perspective is that the antichrist will arise on the power base of an Islamic empire, one that is likely centred in Turkish, although I believe the latter chapters of the Book Of Daniel suggest that Middle Eastern borders may be redrawn before the antichrist appears. Consequently, it may no longer be the “Turkey” of today.
Erdoğan certainly has taken Turkey headlong out of secularism and back to its oppressive, Islamic roots as many Turkish citizens are discovering the hard way. The West, with Obama at the forefront, seem okay with this and haven’t, to my knowledge, expressed any concern about this sharp change in direction.
Turkey has already been fighting IS, which so far has appeared a convenient excuse to attack Kurdish fighters. Now, it appears that Turkey has larger plans against IS:
ISTANBUL – US aircraft and drones are arriving in Turkish air bases and a comprehensive battle against Islamic State militants will be launched soon, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said on Wednesday.
Turkey formally approved the use of its air bases by US and coalition aircraft late last month, a major change in policy after years of reluctance in taking a front-line role against the Islamist fighters in northern Syria.
“As part of our agreement with the US we have made progress regarding the opening up of our bases, particularly Incirlik,” Cavusoglu told state broadcaster TRT, referring to a major air base near the southern city of Adana.
“We’re seeing that manned and unmanned American planes are arriving and soon we will launch a comprehensive battle against Islamic State all together,” he said during a trip to Malaysia.
Turkey and the United States have been working on plans to provide air cover for a group of US-trained Syrian rebels and jointly sweep Islamic State fighters from a strip of northern Syria stretching about 80 km (50 miles) along the Turkish border.
Diplomats familiar with the plans say cutting off Islamic State’s access to the border, over which foreign fighters and supplies have flowed, could be a game-changer in the fight against the insurgents.
But there are major challenges.
Washington said on Tuesday it had indications some of the rebels trained by its military were captured by fighters from al-Qaida’s Syria wing, Nusra Front, underscoring the vulnerability of a group thought to number less than 60 who only deployed to the battlefield in recent weeks.
Islamic State has seized large parts of Syria and neighboring Iraq in its drive to create an Islamic caliphate.
With Western war-weariness at all time highs regarding the Middle East especially, the rise of a dominant power that can lead this perpetually troubled region would be very well received in many quarters. Some would even accept Iran, of all nations!
Biblical prophecy cannot be any clearer that the antichrist will be widely received with praise, though not by Christians, and that this will lead to an assault against an Israel and Jerusalem that is resting at peace and ease.
Naturally, this is not the case at this present moment and so we can expect significant changes and transfers in power to occur during the coming years of the Middle East.
For now, we must watch and pray in the knowledge that human attempts to bring peace will only lead to the rise of the most evil empire in history.
Nevertheless, Jesus will prevail and his victory is already written, so our hope is sure and we need never fear.
“The oracle of the word of the Lord concerning Israel: Thus declares the Lord, who stretched out the heavens and founded the earth and formed the spirit of man within him: “Behold, I am about to make Jerusalem a cup of staggering to all the surrounding peoples. The siege of Jerusalem will also be against Judah. On that day I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples. All who lift it will surely hurt themselves. And all the nations of the earth will gather against it….And on that day I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.” Zechariah 12:1-3, 9 ESV
““At the time appointed he shall return and come into the south, but it shall not be this time as it was before. For ships of Kittim shall come against him, and he shall be afraid and withdraw, and shall turn back and be enraged and take action against the holy covenant. He shall turn back and pay attention to those who forsake the holy covenant. Forces from him shall appear and profane the temple and fortress, and shall take away the regular burnt offering. And they shall set up the abomination that makes desolate. He shall seduce with flattery those who violate the covenant, but the people who know their God shall stand firm and take action. And the wise among the people shall make many understand, though for some days they shall stumble by sword and flame, by captivity and plunder. When they stumble, they shall receive a little help. And many shall join themselves to them with flattery, and some of the wise shall stumble, so that they may be refined, purified, and made white, until the time of the end, for it still awaits the appointed time. “And the king shall do as he wills. He shall exalt himself and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak astonishing things against the God of gods. He shall prosper till the indignation is accomplished; for what is decreed shall be done. He shall pay no attention to the gods of his fathers, or to the one beloved by women. He shall not pay attention to any other god, for he shall magnify himself above all. He shall honor the god of fortresses instead of these. A god whom his fathers did not know he shall honor with gold and silver, with precious stones and costly gifts. He shall deal with the strongest fortresses with the help of a foreign god. Those who acknowledge him he shall load with honor. He shall make them rulers over many and shall divide the land for a price. “At the time of the end, the king of the south shall attack him, but the king of the north shall rush upon him like a whirlwind, with chariots and horsemen, and with many ships. And he shall come into countries and shall overflow and pass through. He shall come into the glorious land. And tens of thousands shall fall, but these shall be delivered out of his hand: Edom and Moab and the main part of the Ammonites. He shall stretch out his hand against the countries, and the land of Egypt shall not escape. He shall become ruler of the treasures of gold and of silver, and all the precious things of Egypt, and the Libyans and the Cushites shall follow in his train. But news from the east and the north shall alarm him, and he shall go out with great fury to destroy and devote many to destruction. And he shall pitch his palatial tents between the sea and the glorious holy mountain. Yet he shall come to his end, with none to help him.”
Daniel 11:29-45 ESV
“And I saw a beast rising out of the sea, with ten horns and seven heads, with ten diadems on its horns and blasphemous names on its heads. And the beast that I saw was like a leopard; its feet were like a bear’s, and its mouth was like a lion’s mouth. And to it the dragon gave his power and his throne and great authority. One of its heads seemed to have a mortal wound, but its mortal wound was healed, and the whole earth marveled as they followed the beast. And they worshiped the dragon, for he had given his authority to the beast, and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast, and who can fight against it?” And the beast was given a mouth uttering haughty and blasphemous words, and it was allowed to exercise authority for forty-two months. It opened its mouth to utter blasphemies against God, blaspheming his name and his dwelling, that is, those who dwell in heaven. Also it was allowed to make war on the saints and to conquer them. And authority was given it over every tribe and people and language and nation, and all who dwell on earth will worship it, everyone whose name has not been written before the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who was slain. If anyone has an ear, let him hear: If anyone is to be taken captive, to captivity he goes; if anyone is to be slain with the sword, with the sword must he be slain. Here is a call for the endurance and faith of the saints. Then I saw another beast rising out of the earth. It had two horns like a lamb and it spoke like a dragon. It exercises all the authority of the first beast in its presence, and makes the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, whose mortal wound was healed. It performs great signs, even making fire come down from heaven to earth in front of people, and by the signs that it is allowed to work in the presence of the beast it deceives those who dwell on earth, telling them to make an image for the beast that was wounded by the sword and yet lived. And it was allowed to give breath to the image of the beast, so that the image of the beast might even speak and might cause those who would not worship the image of the beast to be slain. Also it causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave, to be marked on the right hand or the forehead, so that no one can buy or sell unless he has the mark, that is, the name of the beast or the number of its name. This calls for wisdom: let the one who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man, and his number is 666.” Revelation 13:1-18 ESV
There is a lot going on in the world. If you are a Christian, you should be watching and praying. If not, Jesus beckons you with open arms, as does his church.
I celebrate the Lord’s feasts and have done so since he took my Christian community on a journey into discovering Jesus in these feasts over half a decade ago.
I already had a heart and a burden for Israel and God compounded this as we discovered the joy of celebrating and understanding the Passover, Pentecost, and Sukkot.
So when the Blood Moon Tetrad appearances were made known, I was alert and watchful knowing that this precision was no coincidence. I waited and watched as ISIS rose up during this period. Then it became clear the world economy, driven by America’s debt, was heading towards crisis. Now Iran is the BFF of the West with free reign to make nukes.
All of these signs within this Blood Moon Tetrad.
Along this journey, I have seen a number of trends across the many facets of society that defy chance and all point to significant upheaval in the earth.
My conviction is that serious trouble will consume the earth and, like Hitler and the Third Reich arising as a saviour to a greatly troubled Germany, the way will be opened for the rise of the antichrist spoken of in the biblical scriptures as a saviour to a greatly troubled planet. This of course may take years and even decades to play out but I believe some important steps towards this end may be occurring right now.
Again, my personal conviction is that this will be an Islamic empire upon which antichrist arises to power but certainly one with influence in and across many nations, some of which will likely be non-Islamic. I am open to other interpretations but this stands strongest in my mind. I would encourage Christians to be aware of all the major theories on this matter so that we are best prepared.
September seems to be a focal point for many of these aforementioned trends, with the final Blood Moon appearing then along with the Shemitah and a number of other noteworthy signs.
I am not the only one watching and below is a list of signs and trends worth being aware of. I do not necessarily agree with all of these listed items – particularly the understanding of the rapture expressed here – but this should not stop us from being united in a prayerful awareness and preparedness for hardship and persecution.
The impending crisis that the swirling vortex of signs and events is pressing upon this world brings to mind that song of Johnny Cash titled, “Five Feet and Rising,” where he progresses through the song’s narrative of flood waters overwhelming his family’s farm.
Not only does it identify with all the turbulent storms and flooding in recent months, but it resonates with the flooding of crime, murders, rioting, sexual assaults and social immorality. Not a pretty sight, for sure! One of the prophecies proves my point, however, according to 2 Timothy 3:1-5:
“But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power.”
Earlier, in his first letter, 1 Timothy 3:1-2, he identified, perhaps, the root cause of today’s social and immoral degradation:
“Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron….”
It seems harder than ever to find enough adjectives to describe the atrocities that abound in our world today, and that testifies to the reality of the “times and seasons” that marks the closing of this page of God’s plan for the ages.
There are at least ten, perhaps more, signs and events that are coming together in these days with remarkable rapidity. We can look at each of them in detail, next.
1. The determined destruction of America.
Barack Obama’s campaign declaration for the 2008 election was “America is the greatest nation the world has ever seen!” Then, later, he exclaimed, “Join me in fundamentally changing America forever!” We now understand that if America was so great, the only way it was to be changed was to destroy it. (The above statements have been well publicized with videos of the speeches, but now appear to have been taken out of circulation.)
The lies, deceptive tactics and outright flaunting of the Constitution, while denied and overlooked by the liberal left and political correctness demands of the media, are fully supported by factual evidence. For example, the Gross National Product (GNP) of the United States historically runs at around four per cent annually. It has continually dropped since Obama took office, and the rate of economic growth which this statistic measures dropped below zero in the first quarter of 2015!
When President George W. Bush finished his second term amid financial turmoil like never before, he had endured a rise in the national debt to around $9 Trillion dollars. Obama lashed out at him during the campaign with unrelenting fury. It was unpatriotic and treasonous, he claimed.
Then Obama added to that level of debt an additional $9 trillion dollars, which is continuing to compile, in just over six years. That’s an increase in national debt equal to the accumulation since the beginning of the nation. One problem, then, is that it is not likely that anyone could tell us where that $9 Trillion dollars was spent.
The destructive tactics go on and on, for only if the sovereignty of the United States of America can be brought down can a “New World Order” be established. Henry Kissinger, one of the global elitists, exclaimed rather gleefully upon Obama’s election success, “He has been primed to lead us into a New World Order!” (Strangely, this video has disappeared from the Internet, also.)
And likewise, in his closing speech at the end of his term as president, George H. W. Bush glowingly pictured the coming New World Order as a utopia beyond all imagination. He says, “…and it will happen.”
2. The impending economic and financial collapse worldwide.
The expectation of an economic and financial collapse that is worldwide is increasingly imminent and especially so this July, 2015, when Greece is about to fold up in bankruptcy, China’s financial situation is in chaos, and yes, the USA, with its more than $18 Trillion dollars of debt. A spokesman for the Rothschild dynasty declared in the early 1800’s, “Give me control of a nation’s money supply, and I will not care what its laws are.”
As far as America is concerned, at least, that has been accomplished by the development of the Federal Reserve System, and they are apparently ready to kill in order to preserve that control. Yet, that fiat system of debt financing has backed them into a corner where it begins to look like a worldwide collapse is on the immediate horizon, just as the economic experts fearfully anticipate. Jonathan Cahn historically documents this quite interestingly.
3. The strange military exercise, Jade Helm 15.
Not mentioned in the daily news bites, even on Fox News, is the seemingly gigantic military training operation titled, “Jade Helm 15,” which is to begin, officially, on July 15, 2015, and end on September 15, 2015. Mainline media wants to push it away with a laugh and maybe a sneering retort that it is not of any significance to the nation’s welfare.
On its official shield is shown a downward pointing sword crossed by two arrows. Their motto is lettered across the bottom circle, “Master the Human Domain.” That sounds an awful lot like the goal of the global elite and their New World Order which is, as I have heard and read of, a reduction of the world’s population of 7.210 billion down to a more manageable one billion or even 500 million.
Of course, that means people like you and me, who do not rise to their level of equal. Perhaps that is the real driving force behind the abortion issue in which more than 55 million have been eliminated from the population since the advent of Roe vs. Wade.
One thing seems clear. The exercise is to end on September 15, the approximate time that many of these other signs and events are pointing toward. If the economy falls apart, as it is in Greece, there is nothing more appropriate for controlling rioting citizens than a prepared military to institute martial law instantly.
Jade Helm 15 is surrounded with seemingly deceptive press conferences, outright denials, huge movements of military equipment as well as strange closings of Walmart stores in the areas of planned operation. At least five such stores have been closed on a three-day advance notice with the pretense of “plumbing problems,” but in the months afterward, no plumbing repairs have been taking place—and the buildings are empty! The plan started out with seven states in the area of operation, but now has been increased to at least nine states. All of them are across our southern border, from Florida to California.
4. The on-again, off-again peace talks.
Since about September of 2009 there have been peace talks going on in the Middle East, first regarding Israel and the Palestinians, and now regarding Iran and its nuclear capability. At first, they were to have an agreement put together by the next September, and it still seems to point to that time of the year for a satisfactory conclusion. At this writing it appears a deal has been reached and is now waiting for Congressional approval. It shapes up like this, in reality.
If Iran is allowed to build a nuclear weapon, Israel is sure to be blown to bits, and the promise is that the “Great Satan” (USA) will be their next target. Psalm 2 and Psalm 83 speak of the hatred of the Islamic faction for Israel, and it has not ceased over the centuries. The leadership in the United States apparently feels it can talk its way out of any danger, but Israel has said it will not allow that to happen. It is now an open sore, but I would place my tokens on Israel’s unilateral response before this summer is over. Whatever happens, it will l likely lead to the confirmation of a covenant with many [nations at the United Nations], as Daniel 9:27 predicts.
5. The sign of the last Pope.
The centuries-old prediction of an Irish Catholic Cardinal that the 116th Pope from that date would be the last pope of the Roman Catholic Church brings us to this current Pope Francis. The timing included strange circumstances in which the prior Pope suddenly announced his resignation, a rarest of events in itself.
Pope Francis, from Argentina, is the first pope to be of the Order of the Franciscans and is a Jesuit. Note what one of the points of that order’s oath of membership includes, in part:
“I furthermore promise and declare that I will, when opportunity is present, make and wage relentless war, secretly or openly, against all heretics, Protestants and Liberals, as I am directed to do, to extirpate and exterminate them from the face of the whole earth; and that I will spare neither age, sex or condition….” (It gets more graphic as the oath continues.)
This Pope has stated that it is his opinion that atheists will go to heaven based on their consciences. He has issued a proclamation of statehood for the Palestinians. Also, he just recently picked up the mantle of the liberal Obama administration and its backers, the global elite, that climate change (formerly global warming) is the greatest threat the world faces today.
This seems like the kind of support a false prophet might give to a ruling world government, or New World Order. He will be the third pope to visit the United States and the first to address a joint session of Congress on September 24, 2015. Will he be drumming up support for the New World Order?
6. The increasing geophysical disturbances.
There is not enough space in this article to list all of the volcano eruptions, earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, thunderstorms and their resulting flooding that are splashed across our television screens, or worse yet, overwhelming our neighborhoods. Jesus spoke of these as an increasing activity of nature in the last day’s events in the gospels. However, the globalists conveniently blame it on climate change and the faults of mankind, thus there is no reason for a confrontation with a God of creation in whom they have no interest.
7. The signs in the heavens and blood moons.
The phenomenon of the four blood moons in 2014 and 2015 and their unique occurrence on the first and last of the seven feast days recorded in the law given to Moses in Leviticus 23 is certainly a sign not to be recklessly discarded as insignificant. They seem to be bracketing those seven points on the Hebrew calendar each year to draw attention to their message as the high points of the plan of God for this age and its approaching conclusion.
Another blood moon appeared in the sky over America on June 30, 2015, the day that the Supreme Court announced the legalization of gay marriage in the United States. Was it a meaningful sign from God for that reason, or just coincidentally connected to fiery smoke from forest fires in Canada? .
8. The increasing worldwide hatred for the Jews.
The historical record of the Jews in the nations where they have been scattered over these past centuries is one of hatred and contempt. That has been a factor, no doubt, in keeping the Jewish heritage intact and the race ready for identification upon the call for their return to their land. Even the Nazi holocaust, while based on hatred, also created a willing desire to return to their homeland. At this time it would be hard to find any nation willing to stand up for Israel, and even the United States government, ruled by the Obama administration, talks of standing with Israel but in reality, seems to incline away from that commitment.
9. The sign that an Israeli Rabi expects Messiah’s return on September 12.
The recent headline reads, “Leading Israeli Rabi Says the Arrival of the Messiah Is Imminent.” The article describes Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky as a leading authority in mainstream Ultra-Orthodox Judaism who has been giving clear and unequivocal messages recently that the coming of the Messiah is imminent. He is urging Jews to return to Israel quickly because he expects the Messiah to arrive at the end of the Sabbatical year, which is September 12, 2015.
10. The prophetic Feast of Trumpets portrayal of the Rapture.
The seven feasts of the Lord, on the Hebrew calendar since Moses took them from the command of the Lord have been brought to the attention of people of the world by the four blood moons in 2014 and 2015. Again, the moons were to appear on the first and last feast days each year and have been on target with one more remaining in 2015. The first four of the seven feasts were fulfilled when Christ was crucified, buried and resurrected and when Christ’s church was born with the filling of believers by the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. Three fulfillments are yet to come.
The next feast in order, the Feast of Trumpets, is peculiar from all the others. Its day of beginning is uncertain, for it must begin with the physical sighting of the new moon and reported to the leaders. If the new moon cannot be seen because of cloudy conditions, the beginning is postponed until the next day. Thus, the statement Jesus made fits this feast, along with the time of the Rapture of the saints:
“No man knows the day or the hour of His coming.” Since this feast portrays the event of the Rapture and is on the calendar for September 13 or 14, 2015, along with several of these signs and events, it is a valid sign of the times.
The final statement in the Bible seems appropriate here: “Even so, Lord Jesus, come!”

Naturally, trends are not certain but the do suggest something. We don’t need to date set but we ought to watch consistently and do so prayerfully so that we might be faithful to the Lord as a light to the lost whether something comes of this or not.
“Now concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered together to him, we ask you, brothers, not to be quickly shaken in mind or alarmed, either by a spirit or a spoken word, or a letter seeming to be from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come. Let no one deceive you in any way. For that day will not come, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God. Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things? And you know what is restraining him now so that he may be revealed in his time. For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work. Only he who now restrains it will do so until he is out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will kill with the breath of his mouth and bring to nothing by the appearance of his coming. The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan with all power and false signs and wonders, and with all wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. Therefore God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe what is false, in order that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.”
2 Thessalonians 2:1-12 ESV
The Middle East is primed for what might turn out to be a Third World War, likely between Sunni and Shia Islam.
Between Iran and Islamic State overtly vying for dominance and Turkey doing it on the down low, trouble is brewing.
It is my opinion that the coming years will bring about the fulfilment of many of the prophecies in the book of Daniel, specifically that of the ram and the goat detailed in Daniel chapter 8.
Joel Richardson, whom I credit with establishing the foundations and much more of my own journey into understanding the Islamic End Times paradigm, has recently released an important video that addresses this particular topic in the context of the many troubles occurring in the Middle East.
I encourage every Christian to seriously consider this message and to be informed about God’s end times purposes. This can be difficult and it does take time but this is always the case for anything worth doing.
