There always were some homosexual couples that just wanted to get married. That was never any reason to redefine marriage but there was a small portion of an already tiny minority that were sincere in wanting to marry.
But the movement to redefine marriage to include homosexual relationships was never driven by these people, though they may have been along for the ride.
The agenda was driven by people who began their work at least a century ago and their end goal was never “homosexual marriage.” It merely served as a convenient stepping stone to the real goal: the total isolation and removal of Christianity and its corresponding ideals and values from our society.
In sum, a free for all of moral relativism where nobody dares challenge your behaviours, sexual or otherwise because no standard exists anymore.
And this endgame can really ramp up now that a significant hurdle has been jumped.
Consider this from agenda front runner Mikey Weinstein:
Nobody is arguing that these losers don’t have a right to their religious beliefs – that right is sacrosanct, and is backed by the highest law of the land – the U.S. Constitution. However, as long as these faux “victimized” chaplains insist on accepting a government paycheck from us, the American taxpayers, while nurturing and maintaining the state of antagonism between their religion and the sexual/gender identities of servicemembers, then they don’t belong in the military. At this stage, the only honorable thing that these losers can do is to fold up their uniforms, turn in their papers, and get the hell out of the American military chaplaincy. If they are unwilling or too cowardly to do so, then the Department of Defense must expeditiously cleanse itself of the intolerant filth that insists on lingering in the ranks of our armed forces.
Did you catch the most important part of his commonly aggressive attitude?
Here it is again:
…they don’t belong in the military…
…the Department of Defense must expeditiously cleanse itself…
This is what it has always been about: just one more step towards purifying society’s institutions of Christians and Christianity.
Sure, they will accept anyone and anything that will bow before their jackboot demands but then it’s not really Christianity anymore and they know it. The media has already been purged and politics and the military are well on the way.
That’s the end game of redefining marriage.
The sad part is that people in the homosexual community will view these people who ushered this in as their heroes and champions but what they have really added to is disintegrating morality and the solidify of dangerously relative, naturalistic values. And how is this worldview helping our society?
Consider this: if you convince society that Christian sexual behaviours (personal responsibility and accountability to Christian community in the form of monogamous marriage) are outdated and oppressive, will that reduce unwanted pregnancies, broken relationships, sexually transmitted diseases, single parent households, and all the emotional and financial strain that comes with these behaviours?
Or have they all increased in the last seventy years as naturalistic and atheistic values supplanted Christian ones?
Will adding redefined (diluted) marriage to the mix somehow bring more stability or will we all, homosexual and Christian communities alike, feel the growing weight of a society where the safety that family should provide has been sold off in favour of sexual and moral lawlessness?
When people accuse me of being unloving towards homosexuals, I am saddened knowing that most of the people who began this movement were not homosexual and once the community that defines itself by it’s homosexuality (or any other “progressive” sexuality) has served its purpose, they too will suffer the fate that Christians will – a morally unstable society that is dangerous to live in which can only be constrained by big, invasive, impersonal and demanding government. Government that has already demonstrated willingness to wrest society-altering decisions away from the people.
Don’t be blind Christians: you are the enemy of the world and they are gunning for us, whether that means you lose your job, go to prison, die, or merely sit and nod your passive assent while evil flourishes and doublespeak abounds.
Our hope in Jesus Christ is permanent and eternally lasting. Our culture will likely collapse just as many before have but we needn’t be afraid.
Many of us used to be homosexuals, adulterers, fornicators, and every manner of sinner but now we who restrain offer the same hope to those still lost, a hope that holds us steady when society shakes: eternal fellowship with Jesus Christ and with the community of believers.
Jesus takes anyone with joy and gladness but only if and when they are willing.
Take care, brothers, lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God. But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. For we have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original confidence firm to the end. (Hebrews 3:12-14 ESV)
