After an intense standoff and shoot-out, at least one of the Boston Marathon bombers has been arrested. He is a Muslim and these bombing were motivated by Islam.
The surviving suspect in the deadly Boston Marathon bombings is in police custody after a massive manhunt and a tense stand-off in a neighbourhood backyard.
Minutes after police announced that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, had managed to evade a massive dragnet which brought the city to a standstill, rapid gunfire rang out in the Watertown area.
Squads of heavily-armed police rushed to the area, where a wounded Tsarnaev was hiding in a boat covered with a tarpaulin.
He was captured after an exchange of gunfire and is now in a serious condition in hospital.
He had gone on the run after his brother Tamerlan, 26, was killed in a gun battle with police in the wake of the fatal shooting of a university policeman in the nearby city of Cambridge.
The Tsarnaev brothers, who are of Chechen origin, are suspected of being behind the twin marathon bombs which killed three people and wounded about 180 others.
What this man and his accomplices have done is disgusting, dispicable, and totally in line with what Islam motivates in people across the world every day.
He deserves severe punishment and I believe the death penalty is appropriate in a case like this – that is why we have government according to the bible.
But Tsarnaev’s eternal future can be salvaged beginning now, just like any Muslims and indeed any human being.
Jesus Christ is able to forgive what many people cannot and he is the only one who can aquit us of the most serious charge of sinful rebellion – a gift he offers freely to all who will repent and claim it.
I hate what these men have done and they are in serious trouble with God but the fact is that we are all guilty before God. His love leads us to repentance and while it does not free us from the consequences of our actions, it does make a new man out of us all, no matter what crimes we have committed against other people.
“Now we know that whatever the law says it speaks to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be stopped, and the whole world may be held accountable to God. For by works of the law no human being will be justified in his sight, since through the law comes knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it— the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God’s righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins. It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.” Romans 3:19-26 ESV
“For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”” Romans 10:13 ESV
